The singer is the latest celebrity to represent the cosmetics brand after the likes of Tyra Banks and Pink.

AceShowbiz - After the top-selling albums and sold-out tours, the varied TV appearances, several movie roles and three fragrances all to her name, Katy Perry added CoverGirl spokeswoman to her list of credentials. It is the first cosmetics tie-up for the 28-year-old singer which comes a week before she is set to debut her much anticipated new album "Prism", arriving on October 22.

"BEAUTIFUL news to share w/you all. Today is my 1st day as a @COVERGIRL! See what happens when you let the light in? #COVERGIRLKATY," the "Roar" singer made the announcement on Twitter. In a separate press statement, she said, "I'm honored to partner with COVERGIRL and share more colors and textures of my approach to beauty to inspire my audience."

Perry was chosen as the new celebrity endorser of the popular cosmetics brand for her "passion, playfulness, and bold style sensibility." As CoverGirl Cosmetics VP and general manager Esi Eggleston Bracey put it, "Katy is the embodiment of a true COVERGIRL - someone we root for, identify with, and get inspiration from."

Known for her ability to transform her looks, from her previous "Teenage Dream" wig-wearing image to her recent jungle queen persona, Perry is expected to have an effortless time as a CoverGirl spokeswoman. Other famous names who have lent their looks for CoverGirl are models Cheryl Tiegs, Christie Brinkley and Tyra Banks, singers Pink and Janelle Monae as well as Queen Latifah, Sofia Vergara and the much-loved Ellen DeGeneres.
