Rapper LL Cool J as well as British rock bands Yes, Deep Purple and the Zombies are also among 16 nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2014.

AceShowbiz - For the first time since they debuted in 1987 and then disbanded in 1994 following frontman Kurt Cobain's death, Nirvana is deemed eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. The alternative rock band is nominated as honoree for the Class of 2014.
Also in the running for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honor are returning hopefuls Kiss, Chic, Deep Purple, The Meters, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, and gangster rap pioneers N.W.A.. This year, meanwhile, marks the first time rapper LL Cool J, Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, the Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Link Wray, Cat Stevens, Yes and the Zombies being included in the nominations.
In order to be eligible for this year's ballot, an artist or band needs to have released a debut single or album 25 years ago or no later than 1988. For the second consecutive year, fans get to vote for their favorites alongside 600 artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body.
Voting at rockhall.com/vote and other websites open until December 10. The top vote-getters will be inducted in a ceremony to be held in April in New York and aired on HBO at a later date.
