The music icon reveals his wedding plans on a visit to Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk show.

AceShowbiz - During a recent guest appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to promote his latest album "The Diving Board", legendary Rocketman Elton John revealed that he would be tying the knot with partner David Furnish next year. The 66-year-old entertainer and his filmmaker partner are in a civil partnership they entered into in England back in 2005 after beginning their relationship in 1993.

"Yeah, we will do next May when it comes out," John responded to Kimmel when the late-night talk show host asked him if he would take advantage of the law that the English parliament recently passed to legalize same-sex marriage. "If the laws are gonna help us again, as a famous gay couple we will do it. It's our duty to do it to make sure everyone knows that this is something that's a gift that we never dreamed we'd ever get."

For a gay couple, John said "30, 40 years ago" it was difficult even to just "come out of the closet," so for them to finally have the rights to legally marry is something that is definitely long-awaited. He went on to say that although at first he thought his civil partnership with Furnish would not make much of a difference on their relationship, in fact it really helped because of the commitment.

John and Furnish are co-parents to two sons, both born to a common surrogate mother born less than three years apart. He continues to be a staunch supporter of same-sex marriage and the LGBT community and is even performing in Russia in December despite the country's anti-gay legislation.
