Panem becomes less depressing and the arena looks less intimidating as some random pop culture punchlines are added to the mix.
"The Starving Games" which parodies "The Hunger Games" has just got its official trailer. It follows the story in the Suzanne Collins book mixed with some slapstick twists, bringing in a few goofy laughs to the usually gloomy Panem and the deadly arena.
The video shows Kantmiss, while in the forest, running into the characters from "Avatar", "The Avengers" and "The Lord of the Rings". She also takes on some random pop culture figures like Tim Tebow, PSY, LMFAO, Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja.
Coming from Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer ("Scary Movie", "Meet the Spartans", "Vampires Suck"), the spoof film will arrive on November 8, two weeks before "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" comes out on November 22.
Maiara Walsh ("Zombieland") takes on the female lead. Brant Daugherty and Cody Christian play the smoldering Dale and the geeky baker's son Peter respectively. Both actors happen to co-star in "Pretty Little Liars".
