Stiller and Wigg are joined at the New York Film Festival by his wife Christine Taylor and co-stars Sean Penn, Adam Scott and Patton Oswalt among others.
Ben Stiller and Kristen Wiig stepped out to support the special screening of their new movie "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". The two walked down the red carpet at the 2013 New York Film Festival taking place at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.
Stiller suited up for the weekend event in the Big Apple. He came with his actress wife Christine Taylor, who looked lovely in a strapless dark frock. The "Tropic Thunder" beauty styled her hair in a casual chignon and slipped into peep-toe heels.
Wiig, meanwhile, wore a Marchesa champagne-colored dress that she paired with Jimmy Choo shoes, and a Fred Leighton ring and earrings. She and Stiller were joined by the other cast that included Sean Penn, Adam Scott and Patton Oswalt.
The movie will be released this coming Christmas. It's the second adaptation of James Thurber's 1939 short story of the same name, following a 1947 film starring Danny Kaye. The new pic will follow modern-day Mitty trying to get out of his daydreaming world and face the real life.
"In every other version, the script skewed closely to the original film, and his didn't," producer John Goldwyn said of the quality he saw in the new story. "It gave the character clarity. That's what got Ben on board, Fox on board, got the thing moving down the track."
Stiller added, "We just wanted to honor the material and tell the story pretty simply. But I think there's a lot beneath the surface in the Walter character, like the idea of what people have underneath. That's something everybody in the cast related to."
