Hill's attorney says that after being released from prison, the Grammy-winning singer will start a one-year period of probation with three months of home confinement.

Lauryn Hill has been released from prison after serving her sentence. Hill, who was sentenced to three months in jail in July after pleading guilty to tax evasion, left a prison in Connecticut on Friday, October 4.

"Ms. Hill was released today from federal prison after serving her sentence," Hill's attorney Nathan Hochman said in an e-mail to the Associated Press. "She was released several days early based on a number of factors the Bureau of Prisons takes into consideration, including good behavior. She will now start today a one-year period of probation with three months of home confinement during that year."

Hill was charged with tax evasion in June 2012 after failing to file income tax returns on about $1 million in earnings between 2005 and 2007. She started serving her sentence on July 8. During the three-month sentence, the former The Fugees member lived in a minimum security facility. She as well as other inmates were expected to do jobs in food service, landscaping or maintenance.

In other news, Hill dropped a new single entitled "Consumerism" on the day she was released. The song was composed before she started serving and was mixed when she was in prison. "Consumerism" will be included in her upcoming project "Letters From Exile".
