"American Horror Story: Coven" won't debut until October 9, but the main title sequence is already available for viewing pleasure. The opening credits, presented in dark tone, features the name of the cast members in between creepy scenes of hooded figures in the woods, voodoo dolls and women dancing around a campfire.
In addition to the title sequence, FX drops two new teasers for the upcoming installment of the horror series. One which is titled "Laveau" shows a woman who has a snake for legs. The other is titled "Voodoo" and features a doll stabbed with needles.
True to its subtitle, the third chapter of "American Horror Story" tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves.
Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.
Sarah Paulson also returns as Fiona's daughter, Kathy Bates is cast as Madame LaLaurie, who is loosely based on the real-life Louisiana-born socialite known for killing and torturing black slaves in the 1830s, and Angela Bassett plays Marie Laveau, a real-life Louisiana Creole woman "in the 1800s who was very influential in the city."
Gabourey Sidibe, Emma Roberts, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters, Denis O'Hare, Frances Conroy, Danny Huston, Patti LuPone and Grey Damon take on supporting roles. The show airs every Wednesday at 10 P.M. on FX.
