Zachary Cole Smith insists his singer girlfriend 'did nothing wrong' and the arrest was just 'a police blotter, not the outcome of a court case.'
Sky Ferreira and her boyfriend, Zachary Cole Smith, were recently arrested for drug possession. While she stayed mum, her beau spoke out to clear up the air. "What you're reading is a police blotter, not the outcome of a court case. these cops wanted to f**k us, and they did," he tweeted. "Sky did nothing wrong."
21-year-old Ferreira was taken into police custody along with Smith, the frontman of indie rock band DIIV, Saturday, September 14 in New York City. The couple was driving in a 1990 Ford pickup truck through Saugerties Village when the incident happened. They were initially pulled over for traffic violations.
During a routine check, police found the car had stolen New Jersey plates. They also discovered a plastic bag containing 42 "decks" of heroin as well as ecstasy during search. Ferreira reportedly resisted the arrest but they were eventually hauled off to Ulster County Jail. After processing, they were released later on bail.
The indie-pop female singer was reportedly charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, while her boyfriend was slapped with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of aggravated unlicensed driving.
The drug bust came on heels of the announcement of Ferreira's debut album, "Night Time, My Time" due October 29. Just last week, she modeled for Marc Jacobs showcase at New York Fashion Week with the likes of Georgia May Jagger and Cara Delevingne among other beauty runways.
