The 'Argo' helmer will also executive produce 'The Middle Man' with Glenn Gordon Caron, who writes the pilot.

Ben Affleck has nabbed another directorial gig, this time for a TV project. The Golden Globe-winning director is set to helm "The Middle Man", which has received a pilot order from FOX. This marks his first TV directing gig.

Hailed from Glenn Gordon Caron who created "Moonlighting" and "Medium", the crime drama series is set the 1960s' Boston and explores the unique relationship between Rudy MacAteer, an FBI agent charged with taking down the Italian-American mafia, and his confidential informant, Irish-American gangster Mickey Flood. MacAteer's efforts inadvertently give rise to the Irish mob, as he finds himself bending the laws he is governed by.

Affleck will direct the pilot with the script written by Emmy nominee Caron. The two, along with Chay Carter, are going to executive produce the project as well through Affleck's Pearl Street Films.

Actor/writer Affleck gained recognition as a director for his directorial debut "Gone Baby Gone" in 2007. He nabbed a Golden Globe Award for Best Director for 2012's "Argo", which won an Academy Award for Best Picture. He also still takes on-screen roles, most recently being tapped to play Batman in "Man of Steel" sequel, which is billed as a crossover movie.
