Kate Levering, 34, proudly showed off her first child. The "Drop Dead Diva" actress gave birth to her baby boy with husband Reza Jahangiri on July 18 at 9:35 P.M. in Newport Beach, Calif. Named Holden Robert Jahangiri, the baby arrived one month early. He weighed 5 lbs., 4 oz and measured 18 inches at time of birth.
"We were in no way prepared for an early delivery. I had only been home from shooting Drop Dead Diva for nine days," the new mom tells PEOPLE, adding they hadn't bought a car seat or even packed hospital bags when her water broke at three in the morning back then. She initially wanted to give birth at home but eventually went to hospital for an all-natural birth.
She said she gave birth in a room full of her family and friends. "I watch the videos we took and laugh because it was oddly like being on a television set: a crew of people scurrying about, focusing lights and prepping props. Nurses instructing me and poking around at me, much like the wardrobe, makeup and sound departments," she dished on.
"I took the directing role and bossed my family and friends around, instructing them where to stand and what angle to take photos from," she remembered. When the baby was taken to the NICU for monitoring, "I found myself yelling to my husband, 'Follow the baby!' " the actress added. "All pretty hilarious."
