"The Expendables 3" has just added new blood. The Hollywood Reporter learns that "The Dark Knight Rises" actor Glen Powell has been tapped to tackle a lead role as "a highly trained combat veteran who is also an expert hacker and drone pilot." He will join a group of action stars whose involvement in the production has been confirmed by the film's producer.
Boaz Davidson recently took to Facebook to unveil a list of cast members. Mentioned on it are Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Antonio Banderas, Ronda Rousey, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Victor Ortiz, and Kellan Lutz.
Surprisingly, Milla Jovovich, Jackie Chan and Nicolas Cage, all of whom have entered talks to join, did not make it to the list. But, considering that the production will start in a week, their inclusions might be announced later as soon as they close their deals.
Patrick Hughes will serve as director. Scheduled to open on August 15, 2014, the third installment will no longer feature Bruce Willis, who has been axed reportedly over fee demand.
"He said he'd drop out unless he got $4 million," a source with the knowledge told the Hollywood Reporter. "A million dollars a day. Stallone and everybody else involved said no."
