After bagging two music category awards, young pop star Selena Gomez walked away with the Choice Female Hottie fashion surfboard in the just concluded 2013 Teen Choice Awards. The matching Choice Male Hottie award as well as the Choice Smile surfboard went to teen heartthrob Harry Styles of One Direction, who also bagged multiple awards in the music category.

Although her on-again-off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber was not able to join Gomez in the fashion category, The Biebs still got an award for himself, the Choice Twitter Personality, thanks to his hordes of loyal Beliebers. Another teen fan favorite was TV host Ellen DeGeneres who won as this year's Choice Comedian, a recognition she has been consistently getting over the past few years.

Meanwhile for the sports awards, English celebrity athlete David Beckham was voted this year's Choice Male Athlete despite already retiring last May at the end of the 2012-2013 French football season. Taking the Choice Female Athlete win was artistic gymnast Gabrielle Douglas, who, as a member of the U.S. women's gymnastics team at last year's London Olympics, won gold medals in both the team and individual competitions.

This year, the Teen Choice Awards again acknowledged the impact of social media and social networking sites on popular culture. Twitter was voted as Choice Social Network while YouTube-popularized singing group Cimorelli won the Choice Web Star award.
