TV

From a concern about fellow staff's disapproval to people's expectations for women in the era, all of them have to be faced by Dr. William H. Masters and his assistant.

AceShowbiz - Showtime has debuted a full-length trailer for its provocative new series "Masters of Sex". The new video shows Lizzy Caplan's Virginia Johnson before she works with Michael Sheen's Dr. William H. Masters and the backlash she gets after joining his study about sex, which was considered taboo at that time.

Dr. Masters himself has a hard time convincing his friend and mentor Barton Scully (Beau Bridges) the aim of his study. The Provost of Washington University is concerned that it could cause a scandal and jeopardize the hospital's stellar reputation. A potential jealousy, on the side of Masters' wife, is also teased in the promo video.

From Michelle Ashford who wrote and produced 2010's miniseries "The Pacific", "Masters of Sex" tells the real-life pioneers of the science of human sexuality, William Masters and Virginia Johnson, based on Thomas Maier's biography. It chronicles the unusual lives, romance, and pop culture trajectory of Masters and Johnson.

Also supported by Caitlin Fitzgerald, Margo Martindale and Teddy Sears among other cast members, the drama series is set to debut September 29 at 10 P.M. ET/PT on Showtime.
