The promo video confirms that Brody, who is on the run, will still be part of the show's new installment.

AceShowbiz - The first teaser for "Homeland" season 3 has landed online. The pretty much vague promo video does not have footage from the upcoming season, but does tease Brody's involvement in the storyline although he has crossed the Canadian border in the season 2 finale.

Following Brody's escape, executive producer Alex Gansa said that the show's writers themselves were still figuring out how often Damian Lewis' character would appear in the next installment. "[Those] are all open questions for us right now," he told TVLine in December last year.

"We had a much clearer picture of what the first two seasons would be than we do of what the third season would be.... Damian's involvement and [the actors who fill out Brody's family] is very much up in the air."

In another interview, Gordon stated that Carrie's relationships with Brody and Saul are the core of the show. "That relationship is in some ways sacred," he said. "The Brody-Carrie story has to evolve, it is entirely possible that there could be Homeland without Brody. But there is something about the relationship between Carrie and Saul that feels like the twin pole stars."

Meanwhile, Emmy-winning actor Lewis doubted that Brody and Carrie would remain lovers in the upcoming season. "Brody and Carrie are over," he told Digital Spy. "I think it's over. I don't think those two can be together. Can you imagine them being married and bringing up kids?"

"Homeland" will return with the third season Sunday, September 29 on Showtime.
