Lionsgate has debuted a new U.K. trailer for its highly-anticipated "Only God Forgives". The latest video puts spotlight on Kristin Scott Thomas's character as she's the reason why Ryan Gosling's Julian sets out on a dangerous mission under moody red lights in Bangkok. As featured in it, she shouts at him, demanding the head of the man who killed her son on a platter.
The story revolves around Julian, who runs a Thai boxing club as a front organization for his family's drug smuggling operation. When his brother Billy is killed, Julian is forced by his mother Jenna, the head of a powerful criminal organization, to find and kill the individual responsible for his brother's recent death, known as The Angel of Vengeance.
The Radius-TWC movie previously went to Cannes Festival for its world premiere. However, it opened to a chorus of jeers, a situation director Nicolas Winding Refn surely did not expect before.
"You're going to get that. You know, great art - horrible thing to say - but art is meant to divide, because if it doesn't divide, it doesn't penetrate, and if it doesn't penetrate, you just consume it," Refn told Variety.
"I mean, how can I expect someone to not react like this when on one hand you are dropping what you do in everyone's face and at the same time saying, 'Love me, please,' you know?"
"Only God Forgives" will arrive in U.S. theaters on July 19.
