Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Tyrese Gibson and Mary J. Blige also support the music drama, which is due out on November 27.

AceShowbiz - A teaser trailer for "Black Nativity", the upcoming movie from writer/director Kasi Lemmons, has arrived online and features "American Idol" alumna Jennifer Hudson as a single parent to a streetwise teen played by Jacob Latimore. In the video, the "Spotlight" singer showcases her strong vocals by singing a revamped version of Christmas carol "Silent Night".

Adapted from Langston Hughes' play, the musical centers on young Baltimore boy Langston, who is sent by his single mother to Harlem to spend Christmas with the grandparents he's never met. Through his grandfather's Christmas Eve sermon and a stylized, dream-sequence retelling of the classic Nativity story, he will soon learn about the importance of faith and family.

The Fox Searchlight flick also stars "The Butler" actor Forest Whitaker and "Olympus Has Fallen" actress Angela Bassett. Joining the cast for supporting roles are Tyrese Gibson, who recently starred opposite Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in "Fast and Furious 6", and Award-winning singer Mary J. Blige.

Daniela Taplin Lundberg, Celine Rattray, Bill Horberg and Galt Niederhoffer join forces to produce the holiday-set drama, which is ready to be unleashed into theaters nationwide on November 27.
