Cate Blanchett Is Hopeless in First 'Blue Jasmine' Trailer
Movie

Blanchett plays a rich New York housewife named Jasmine, whose husband turns out to be a criminal, in the Woody Allen-directed film.

AceShowbiz - Cate Blanchett is "anxious," "dead broke," and "screwed up" in her role as Jasmine of "Blue Jasmine" as teased in its first trailer via Yahoo! Movies. Introducing her as a fashionable New York socialite, the film finds Blanchett literally in her lowest point as she finds out that her rich husband is a criminal. With problems taking its toll on her, she turns to her sister and xanax.

Blanchett is not the only one featured in the trailer as Alec Baldwin is presented as her charming criminal husband. Sally Hawkins, whose name rose to stardom after starring in 2008's "Happy-Go-Lucky", makes an appearance in the Woody Allen-directed drama as Blanchett's sibling, Ginger.

"Blue Jasmine" is the story of the final stages of an acute crisis and a life of a fashionable New York housewife. Peter Sarsgaard, Louis C.K., Michael Stuhlbarg and Andrew Dice Clay are included in the cast for supporting roles.

Allen directs the upcoming movie based on the script he himself wrote. Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson join forces to produce it.

With Sony Pictures Classics picking up the North American rights, "Blue Jasmine" is set to be released in the United States on July 26.
