The 'Adorn' singer brought out the pop/R'n'B diva for a live performance of their hit single '#Beautiful'.
R'n'B crooner Miguel's set at the Hot 97 Summer Jam XX on Sunday, June 2 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey kicked into high gear when he welcomed onstage his "#Beautiful" collaborator Mariah Carey. The pop/R'n'B diva's surprise appearance in the annual concert became apparent when the familiar guitar riffs that open the track started to play as the 27-year-old neo-soul singer began to introduce Carey.
Miguel, looking quite athletic and sexy in his cut-off shirt accessorized with a simple pair of sunglasses, yelled to the crowd, "I don't think you know who this is 'cause if you did, you'd be making the loudest noise you could." That's exactly what the fans did when Carey stepped out in her very skimpy white ensemble of midriff-baring top and cut-out shorts with her usual pair of high heels.
While Miguel changed the tone of his verse on the song from the deep, soft version in the recorded track to a higher, louder rendition in the live performance, Carey kept to the original melody, hitting all her high notes on the dot. With a couple of back-up singers in tow, Carey strutted onstage to the delight of the audience and even Miguel himself, who dropped to his knees in front of Carey towards the end of their duet.
Besides Carey, Miguel had a double-dose of star power for his set, with rapper J. Cole also showing up for their "Power Trip" performance. Other superstars who came to support Summer Jam were Carey's fellow "American Idol" ex-judge Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, Lil' Kim and Fabolous.
