The 'Suddenly I See' singer is now a single woman again after a judge grants the singer's husband, Luke Bullen, a decree nisi.
A judge at London's High Court granted drummer Luke Bullen a divorce from Scottish singer KT Tunstall on Thursday, May 23. In a hearing that lasted only 80 seconds, judge Susannah Walker signed off on a decree nisi, declaring the marriage had "broken down irretrievably" due to Tunstall's unreasonable behavior.
At the hearing where neither Tunstall nor Bullen was present, the "Suddenly I see" singer was asked to pay her estranged husband's legal costs of the divorce. Tunstall is now waiting for the issue of a decree absolute, which will be granted in the next six weeks, to formally end the less-than-five-year marriage.
Tunstall, whose real name is Kate Victoria Tunstall, began dating Bullen in 2003. The couple got married in a lavish ceremony on the Isle of Skye in Scotland in 2008 and announced their split last March.
Tunstall never showed that her marriage was in trouble. Back in 2010, she gushed about how marriage helped her stay sane when she was too much into the music business. She said, "Being married has been brilliant. It's been hugely liberating. You can waste a lot of energy wondering whether you're with the right person. Once you get married that disappears."
The 37-year-old singer also praised her husband, saying, "Luke's taught me to be more independent, and I'm glad he's there to keep me on the straight and narrow when we're on the road. You can't be a mess in front of the person you love."
