While his former rival Jay Leno may be in danger of losing his job on NBC, Conan O'Brien has secured a renewal for his show "CONAN". TBS announces that it has extended O'Brien's contract, making sure he will stay on the cable network until November 2015. His initial deal would expire in April 2014.
"When we invited Conan Oâ��Brien to come to TBS, we knew he would bring with him a passionately loyal following of young adults," TBS' head of programming Michael Wright said in a statement released on April 1. "Conan and his colleagues at Team Coco have gone far beyond that by making Conan the top late-night brand in the digital arena."
Wright added about the renewal, "We are proud to extend our relationship with Conan as he continues to forge the future of late night. I just wish we didn't decide to tell him on April Fools' Day."
Compared to broadcast rivals, "CONAN" draws modest ratings with an average of 906,000 viewers year to date. However, the show appeals to younger viewers between the ages of 18 and 34, and averages a younger median age (38) than any late-night talk show.
