A fan sent the frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars a cut off human ear as a gift which he made into a necklace.
Jared Leto took to Instagram on Monday, March 25 to share the picture of a severed human ear he received from a fan. In a caption of the picture of the bloody ear, which has been made into a necklace, the singer wrote, "Are you listening?"
Previously, during an interview with British radio Xfm on March 22, the frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars revealed the strangest gift he had ever received. "The fans are an incredibly committed and passionate group of people. Going to a show is kind of like visiting Japan -you expect gifts on your arrival," he said.
"You get all kinds of wonderful things. Someone cut their ear off once and sent it to me. That was very strange. A whole ear. The Van Gogh move," he referred to the painter Vincent van Gogh, who in 1888 chopped off his own ear during a mental breakdown. "The note just said, 'Are you listening?' I never knew who it was, who's missing their ear out there."
"I poked a hole in it and wore it as a necklace!" the 41-year-old singer added. Later, he told fans to stick to offering more traditional presents in the future, "Don't put your entire body in a case and send it to us."
