The titular character is featured crushing a reptile with his bare hand in the first footage from the follow-up to 'Pitch Black' and 'The Chronicles of Riddick'.
Vin Diesel has shared the first footage from "Riddick". Posted on his official Facebook page, the teaser has a moody tone as it shows the titular character saying, "No matter what happens, no matter what they tell you, don't let them take them chains off me," while being tied up. He adds, "You're not afraid of the dark, are you?"
The video also features several creatures, with Riddick crushing a reptile with his bare hand. He is additionally seen throwing a weapon while leaping through the air, while another part teases a motorcycle chase scene.
"Riddick" follows the dangerous, escaped convict who has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.
Diesel reprises his role as the antihero, with Karl Urban returning as Vaako. Other cast members include Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk and Keri Hilson.
David Twohy, who directed and wrote 2000's "Pitch Black" and 2004's "The Chronicles of Riddick", once again takes double duty for the third film. The new action, sci-fi movie is slated to open wide in U.S. theaters on September 6.
