'True Blood' Finds New Showrunner to Replace Mark Hudis

While the sixth season is in the middle of production, Hudis steps down as the showrunner and is replaced by Brian Buckner.

"True Blood" is getting new showrunner again after being left by Alan Ball at the end of season 5. HBO announces that Mark Hudis, who was tapped to replace Ball last May, has stepped down from the position and is being replaced by Brian Buckner.

A spokesperson for the premium cable network says in a statement, "Mark Hudis has stepped down as showrunner of 'True Blood' to focus on development under his overall deal with the network." Ball signed the two-year deal the same time he took the role as "True Blood" showrunner last summer.

Buckner himself is no stranger to "True Blood". He has been working on the show since the first season, serving as a writer and co-executive producer. He will run the hit vampire series while it's currently in the middle of its sixth season production.

"True Blood" is expected to return with the new chapter in June.
