Australian Miners Consider Lawsuit After Getting Fired Over 'Harlem Shake' Video

The 'Harlem Shake' miners plan a lawsuit seeking reinstatement after they were sacked by Barminco and banned from working in all mining sites owned by the company around the world.

Fifteen people getting sacked by an Australian mining company Barminco over "Harlem Shake" video are reportedly mulling a lawsuit seeking reinstatement. Words are, only half of them appeared in the video and the others simply watched their friends doing the convulsive dance to the Baauer goofy track without taking part in it.

The owners of the Agnew gold mine were not amused by the stunt. They claimed the video that showed some of the workers taking off their safety gear during the dance was a breach of its "core values of safety, integrity and excellence." The company also banned the men from working at all Barminco sites around the world.

Since starting last month, "Harlem Shake" phenomenon which inspired many people to create their own "Harlem Shake" videos has led to a series of troubles such as investigation by FAA due to the video made on Frontier Airlines Flight 157 and school suspensions, in addition to the recent job dismissals at the Aussie mining.

Regarding the school suspensions, the National Coalition Against Censorship noted at least 100 students across the country have got punished for making and posting their own version of "Harlem Shake". The NCAC said the schools have gone too far, likened what they did to the plot of the 1984 film "Footloose" in which a town bans dancing and rock music.
