Electronic dance duo Daft Punk and the rap twosome of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are the musical pairs that spice up the Kevin Hart-hosted episode of 'Saturday Night Live'.
The Kevin Hart-hosted episode of popular variety show "Saturday Night Live showcased two sets of 'dynamic duos' on Saturday, March 2. Electronic dance music act Daft Punk dropped a very short 15-second trailer on their new music while the rap pair of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis served as the night's musical guest performers.
Daft Punk premiered their new music by way of a brief teaser that featured a sparkling Daft Punk logo and the famous pair's robot masks. A sampling of what seems to be their new disco-tinged track played as accompanying audio to the simple yet eye-catching visuals.
The trailer is believed to be an ad/promotional clip to usher in the new album of the French duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. The two ended an eight-year recording drought by signing up with Columbia Records. The musical acts reportedly featured in the much-awaited new project include producer Nile Rodgers, disco icon Giorgio Moroder and Chilly Gonzales.
Meanwhile, funky pair Macklemore & Ryan Lewis made their big "SNL" debut with a double dose of rap. Ben Haggerty, in his eye-catching red get-up, and his producer Lewis, in a less flamboyant suit, brought the house down with live performances of their chart-topper "Thrift Shop" (with guest vocalist Wanz) and "Can't Hold Us" (with guest vocalist Ray Dalton). Both of the songs were played with a complete horn section for a rocking performance.
