Bonnie Franklin well known for her role as a hard-working single mother who's wrestling with issues like parenting, career and love life on the classic CBS sitcom "One Day at a Time" passed away Friday, March 1 at her home in Los Angeles. She lost battle against pancreatic cancer which she was announced suffering from in September 2012. She was 69.

Mackenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli, who played Franklin's teenage daughters on the long-running TV series, paid tribute to the late actress. "Remembering my friend. Rest in peace. Bonnie Franklin," Phillips tweeted along with a picture of her with her on-screen mother. Bertinelli did the same, wrote on her own page in a similarly somber tone, "My heart is breaking."

Bertinelli added on her official website, "Bonnie has always been one of the most important women in my life and was a second mother to me. The years on 'One Day At A Time' were some of the happiest of my life, and along with Pat and Mackenzie we were a family in every way. She taught me how to navigate this business and life itself with grace and humor, and to always be true to yourself. I will miss her terribly."

Twitter was also flooded with condolences from other fellow actors. Nancy O'Dell wrote, "So sad to hear about actress Bonnie Franklin. She gave us many laughs on 'One Day at a Time'." Josh Elliott posted, "RIP Bonnie Franklin. Like so many Norman Lear characters, her Ann Romano changed how so many saw themselves. A great lady, who'll be missed."

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" actress Marg Helgenberger tweeted, "Sorry to hear about Bonnie Franklin's passing. She directed me many years ago for an episode of Patty Duke's sitcom, 'Karen's Song'." "The Young and the Restless" star Jessica Collins wrote, "Very sad to hear about the passing of Bonnie Franklin. We all loved having her on the show at #YR. She will be missed dearly."

Marg's "China Beach" co-star Dana Delany joined the online mourners, "Very sad to hear of Bonnie Franklin's death. I 1st saw her in 1970 in APPLAUSE on Bway. Please support @PanCan. Too many die too young." Patty Duke also sent her prayers, "RIP Bonnie Franklin, RIP Dale Robertson. You both will be sorely missed! My heart goes out to their families!!"

Franklin's death comes just a few days after Robertson passed away due to complications of lung cancer and pneumonia. The red-headed actress is survived by her mother Claire Franklin, brothers Dr. Bernard Franklin and Richard Franklin, sisters Victoria Kupetz and Judith Bush, stepchildren Jed Minoff and Julie Minoff, and two grandchildren.

Throughout her career for many years, Franklin had appeared in many TV shows, including a cameo on "The Young and the Restless", and stage productions on Broadway. In addition to landing an Emmy nomination and two Golden Globe nods for her "One Day at a Time" role as the independent woman Ann Romano, she also got a Tony nom in 1970's musical "Applause".
