Shortly after news broke that country star Mindy McCready was found dead from an apparent suicide, a number of celebrities expressed their condolences on Twitter. Among those who were deeply saddened by the tragic news were singers LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood.
"My heart goes out to Mindy McCready's family. I knew her well. It's a horribly tragedy. May peace be with her son's," so the wife of Eddie Cibrian wrote. The "American Idol" alum, meanwhile, tweeted, "I grew up listening to Mindy McCready... so sad for her family tonight. Many prayers are going out to them..."
Mario Lopez also felt sorry for the Sunday, February 17 tragedy. He wrote, "Sad news about Mindy Mcready... Apparent suicide.. #RIP." Kristin Chenoweth simply expressed, ":( so sad. RIP MINDY."
"Very sad to hear about Mindy McCready. When I was in Lonestar she was our label mate and we were friends. A tragic end to a talented life," added John Rich, while Jill Zarin stated, "I feel so sorry for her children... RIP... Mindy McCready."
Chely Wright joined the long list of celebrities who mourned for Mindy's death as writing, "Really really sad to learn the news about Mindy McCready. I will pray for her children and I hope that people are gentle with her memory."
Tiffany Thornton went, "Oh my goodness, just turned on my comp to the yahoo homepage and saw that Mindy McCready has passed. So saddened by this. My prayers are with her family and especially her two sons. I know this must be a difficult time for them all. #RIPMindyMcCready."
On Sunday evening, people were shocked by bad news of Mindy's sudden passing. She was found dead in Heber Springs, Ark. She was 37. The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office later issued a statement to confirm the singer's death.
It said, "At 3:31 PM, Sunday, February 17th Deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired in the area of 1132 Fox Chase Drive in Heber Springs. Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 PM and discovered the body of 37 year old Melinda Gayle McCready on the front porch of the residence at 1132 Fox Chase."
"Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time family members have been notified of the incident. Ms. Mcready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated."
Mindy's death news came as a big surprise since her boyfriend, David Wilson, had just passed away at the age of 34 around a month ago. There was no specific details on the cause of his death, which caused Mindy's life to go on a downward spiral.
The "Guys Do It All the Time" singer had previously attempted suicide in 2005 and in 2008. She had also checked into rehab for several times and appeared in 2010 on the VH1 reality show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew."
