The video streaming service's original program is based on David Soren's upcoming animated film 'Turbo' starring Ryan Reynolds.

AceShowbiz - Following the success of "House of Cards", Netflix is preparing another original program. This time, the Internet streaming media plans to debut a new children's series made under collaboration with DreamWorks Animation.

Titled "Turbo F.A.S.T.", the new TV series is based on upcoming DreamWorks Animation flick "Turbo". The animated film, directed by David Soren, follows an ordinary garden snail whose dream to become the fastest snail in the world comes true.

"Families love Netflix, so creating an original series for kids was a natural for us," Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos says in a statement announcing the project. "DreamWorks Animation has a long track record of creating incredibly successful characters and stories that delight people of all ages."

"Netflix boasts one of the largest and fastest-growing audiences in kids' television. They pioneered a new model for TV dramas with 'House of Cards', and now together, we're doing the same thing with kids' programming," DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg adds. "DreamWorks is thrilled to be part of the television revolution."

"Turbo: F.A.S.T" will premiere in December following the big screen release of "Turbo" on July 19. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular character, with Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Bill Hader, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson also among the voice cast members.

There's no word whether the actors will return to the TV series, but the Netflix show will pick up where the movie plot leaves off.
