J.J. Abrams and Paramount Eye Biopic About Lance Armstrong

Abrams' Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures have just obtained the rights to 'Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong', an upcoming book the film will be based on.

Hot on heels of Lance Armstrong's much-publicized confession about his doping scandal during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Paramount Pictures is targeting a biopic about the bicyclist. The studio reportedly partners with Bad Robot's J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk to develop a film about Armstrong's rise and fall.

According to Deadline, Paramount and Bad Robot have just sealed the deal to obtain the rights to "Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong", a proposal book which the film will be based on. The book will be written by The New York Times sports reporter Juliet Macur, who has covered Armstrong news for more than a decade.

Macur's coverage on Armstrong includes the time when the cyclist recovered from his deadly cancer and won seven Tour de France titles. It also includes the doping allegation, which the 41-year-old athlete vehemently denied before finally admitting the scandal during a much-talked-about interview on "Oprah's Next Chapter".

Before Paramount courts the Lance Armstrong biopic, Sony Pictures aimed to developed its own movie about the Texan cyclist. Jake Gyllenhaal was set to star and the story reportedly would revolve around Armstrong's heroic story instead of focusing on his scandal. The project, however, has been dropped awhile ago.
