Dominic Cooper to Play James Bond Author Ian Fleming in Miniseries

The 'Captain America: The First Avenger' star is set to headline the four-part biopic which captures the life of Fleming during his service at British Naval Intelligence.

The life of James Bond creator Ian Fleming will get highlighted in a BBC America miniseries. The show has found an actor to tackle the lead role, tapping British actor Dominic Cooper to play the author.

Aptly titled "Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond", the four-part drama will reenact Fleming's days during WWII. At that time, the maverick and hedonistic Fleming was hired by British Naval Intelligence as part of its undercover campaign against the Nazis.

His experience during the service inspired him to write the novels about the 007 agent. Much like his famous character, Fleming is known for his womanizing and taste for alcohol.

Cooper has commented on nabbing the role, "Stepping into the shoes of the spy who not only created the enigmatic character of 007, but who fantasized about being him, has to be every actor's dream."

The 34-year-old, who stars as Howard Stark in "Captain America: The First Avenger" and Henry Sturgess in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", will star alongside Annabelle Wallis. The "Pan Am" alumna is cast as Muriel Wright who had an affair with Fleming.

Mat Whitecross will direct "Fleming", with the script written by John Brownlow and Don Macpherson. Production is set to take place in the U.K. and Budapest later this year.
