'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live' May Resume in January

Fans may soon see the once canceled soap operas 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live' back, but only online.

After more than 40 years on TV, popular ABC daytime dramas "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" were both canceled. However, come January 2013, soap opera fans may get to see the return of the defunct shows on the web.

Prospect Park, the production company behind FX's "Wilfred" and USA's "Royal Pains", has secured a deal with SAG-AFTRA to bring the two veteran series back online. Jeff Kwatinetz, co-founder of Prospect Park, rallied amongst guilds, managers and actors in his bid to revive the two soaps.

Last year, Prospect Park secured the rights to take "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" on the internet to anchor the production company's new online network, but had to suspend plans of the online versions of the two shows, in spite of continuous discussions with the intact cast members.

"All My Children" ended with a cliffhanger last September 23 on ABC after its 41-year run and fans are sure to follow it when it resumes online. "One Life to Live" ended its 43-year run on January 13 this year on the same network.

Despite the cancellation of the two shows, other long-running series such as "General Hospital", "Days of Our Lives", "The Young and the Restless", and "The Bold and the Beautiful" have enjoyed continued success in the TV ratings game.
