'Homeland' and 'Mad Men' Among AFI's Top Ten TV Shows of 2012

'Modern Family' is the only broadcast-network series which makes it into the list, which also includes TV movie 'Game Change'.

The American Film Institute (AFI) has named top ten TV shows of this year. Cable series once again dominate the list, with "Homeland", "Mad Men", "Game of Thrones", "Breaking Bad", "Louie" and "The Walking Dead" among the selected programs.

While the above-mentioned titles are no strangers to the honor, "American Horror Story: Asylum" and "Girls" make it into the list for the first time. "Modern Family" is the only broadcast-network show that joins the pack this year, which also includes HBO's TV movie "Game Change".

AFI will honor creative ensembles for the said TV shows and ten movies at an invitation-only luncheon that is scheduled to take place on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Los Angeles. These titles are selected by a unique jury process comprised of experts from across the moving image communities, including Angela Bassett, Brad Bird, Octavia Spencer and Leonard Maltin.
