Ariel Winter was caught by her mother in bed with her 18-year-old boyfriend before they were entangled in a feud. Chrisoula Workman filed a police report about "suspicious circumstances, possible unlawful sex with minor" following allegations that she abused the actress.
"On 09-24-12, at approximately 2200-hours, she walked in the guest bedroom of her home and found her daughter, Ariel Winter Workman, in bed with boyfriend," read the report obtained by Celebuzz. "The informant (Chris) said the guest bedroom door was left wide open when she walked in." According to the mother, the Alex Dunphy of "Modern Family", 14, has been dating her boyfriend for approximately 5 months. She doesn't approve of their relationship and "has attempted to break them up because of their age difference."
"I put a stop to it immediately," Chris said after spotting "them engaging in behavior that I feel my daughter is too young mentally and physically to understand." She added, "I will not apologize for protecting my daughter, as she means the world to me and I will always be there for her and I will always protect her to the best of my ability until the day I die."
The mother continued, "I filed charges against him because legally he is an adult and if he wants to engage in adult behavior with a minor then he should also be ready to suffer adult consequences for his actions and poor judgment."
Ariel's brother, actor Jimmy Workman, confirmed the reason behind the estranged relationship of their mother and his sister. "This is stemming over a boy that is overage, dating my little sister, and my family had no idea about until the end part of it," he told Entertainment Tonight.
It is widely rumored that the boy is actor Cameron Palatas who stars in Disney's series "A.N.T. Farm". Ariel acknowledged their relationship on Twitter, "Thank you to everyone who is supportive of me and @cameronpalatas. It really means a lot. Love y'all!"
Ariel is temporarily placed in the care of her 33-year-old sister Shanelle Gray who is seeking permanent guardianship of the actress. Chris herself is ordered to stay 100 yards away from her teen daughter until further hearing scheduled for November 20.
Regarding rumor that Shanelle moved out of their house years ago due to similar abuse by their mother, Jimmy said, "I was there 20 years ago. I'm almost 32. That stuff didn't happen." He additionally disputed report that Ariel suffered a similar treatment, "Their allegations are not true."
Ariel hasn't issued a statement about the family drama. She was recently spotted putting on a brave face when heading to work on the "Modern Family" set with a female companion. Shanelle refused to give her comment as well as saying, "It is not appropriate for me to comment on this."
Ariel's relationship with her mother wasn't always so bad though. Last summer, the actress spoke lovingly of her mom when wishing her a Happy's Mother day, "Happy mother's day to one of the most amazing moms in the world. Mine!:) Love you mommy! Happy mother's day everyone!!!"
