NBC Accused of Endorsing Obama With Sandy Telethon

Fox News' host Steve Doocy questions the network's motive in holding the concert since most of the performers enlisted for the gig are President Obama's supporters.

Is NBC having a hidden political agenda behind its initiative to hold a telethon for Hurricane Sandy relief effort? Fox News' host Steve Doocy and guest host Eric Bollingon raised such question during a Friday, November 2 episode of "Fox & Friends", just hours before the telethon began.

Bollingon said, "Good intention, raise some money for victims, but the timing is more than suspect." He added, "Is this more political? Is this more, let's get this thing on TV before the election to help President Obama look more presidential? Or is it more to help out victims?"

Doocy then noted that most of the stars involved in the show, namely Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi, were President Obama's supporters and there were no Republican performers on the list. "It does look like they're trying to squeeze it in," Doocy further commented.

Bollingon then said, "This just seems like a rush job because the election is gonna be [in] three days." Doocy stressed the question toward the end of their discussion, "Is it a hurricane benefit or a concert for Obama?"

NBC's Hurricane Sandy telethon aired on Friday with Matt Lauer as the host. Christina Aguilera, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi and Sting were among the performers, while Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey and Brian Williams also supported the benefit.
