On the second live episode of the singing competition, Britney, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell send home one member each of their teams.

AceShowbiz - "The X Factor (US)" has unveiled the Top 12 of its sophomore season on Thursday, November 1. Following Wednesday's show where 16 remaining acts performed live for the first time, one contestant each of the judges' teams would be sent packing.

Demi Lovato was the first judge who had to cut her team of Young Adults to three. She said, "Overall, I was really proud of my acts," before sending Jennel Garcia and Paige Thomas through the next round. Cece Frey and Willie Jones later sang for survival.

Cece sang "Out Here on My Own" by Fame which L.A. Reid said was enough to save herself from elimination. Willie picked Nat King Cole's "You Don't Know Me" and Britney noticed he had a "unique quality," but wasn't sure where he fit in. Demi eventually saved Cece, telling Willie, "I think it's not your time right now."

In Over 25s group, L.A. put Vino Alan and Tate Stevens through Top 12 based on last night's performances. Singing for survival, David Correy belted out a soulful rendition of Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" and Jason Brock went with Whitney Houston's "One Moment in Time".

Demi wasn't really into David's performance, but she praised Jason, "There's something really genuine in you, behind your eyes." Simon Cowell was pessimistic with both acts, stating, "You're asking me to choose between two horses last in a race," which prompted L.A. to comment, "That was really mean." L.A. finally picked to keep Jason, but David said, "I promise you, this is not going to be the last time you see my face."

Next, Britney Spears had to send home one of the acts in Teens group. "They're like my children. It's going to be really hard to choose which of my children go home," she said before sending Beatrice Miller and Carly Rose Sonenclar to Top 12.

For their survival performances, Arin Ray picked Whitney Houston's "I Look to You", while Diamond White sang Elton John's "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word". All judges gave rave reviews on both performances, leaving it to Britney to make "the hardest decision ever." She eventually sent Diamond home, but the singing hopeful said, "I'm still going to keep smiling. I still love you, Britney."

Last, but not least, Simon announced which two groups he sent through the Top 12 right away. Emblem3 and Lyric 145 made it to the next round, while Sister C and 1432 had to sing for survival. Sister C sang Miley Cyrus' "When I Look at You", as 1432 opted for Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper". Demi wasn't hesitant to praise the latter group, "You did better than the original singer."

When it was time to reveal whom he would send home, Simon insisted on naming the winner instead. "I like happy news," Simon argued, but co-host Mario Lopez said, "We all like happy news, but unfortunately we're all going to have to deal with a little bit of sad news at the moment." The British producer sent Sister C packing and saved 1432.

However, Simon said he didn't like the name of the group, 1432, and planned to ask public to pick a new name for the five teen girls.
