The producers of the hit TV series think it is about time and casts the 'Supernatural' alpha vamp as Bonnie Bennett's estranged dad.

AceShowbiz - Rick Worthy is confirmed to play the role of Rudy Hopkins, the estranged father of Bonnie Bennett (played by actress Katerina Graham), on the CW hit TV series "The Vampire Diaries". His character is expected to make the appearance on episode 10, the first episode after the holiday break.
This is a new project for the "Star Trek" veteran, but he is certainly not new in playing the role of lead vampire with personal conflicts to deal with other than worrying where to get the next meal. He has been playing recurring roles as Alpha Vamp on the long-running horror/fantasy series "Supernatural", also under The CW. Worthy is also known for his work on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Heroes".
"He makes a sudden reappearance in Bonnie's life and aims to protect her from the dangers in Mystic Falls," executive producer Julie Plec explains. The producers of the show also feel that even though Bonnie has not been saying much about his estranged father throughout the series, it is time to let him back in Bonnie's life. "This year is a big year of transitions. It's the end of senior year, and there's a rich home life for everybody we're going to explore," adds Plec.
Little is known, indeed, about Bonnie's dad except that he abandoned her and her mother after she lost her powers. Fans will just have to tune in to find out more. "The Vampire Diaries" currently airs its fourth season on The CW.
