The baby will be Jason Mesnick's second child and Molly's first one, joining Jason's son Ty from his first marriage.
Jason Mesnick, 36, and Molly Mesnick, 28, the couple who met on the thirteenth season of "The Bachelor", are over the moon. It's confirmed that the couple are expecting their first baby together, two years after getting married in 2010.
Jason tweets, "Yes its true! WAHOOOOOOO!!! Molly is going to be a MOM and TY a BIG BROTHER! YIPPEEEEEEE!" Molly tells PEOPLE, "Our family is getting a little bit bigger! I'm into my second trimester and I feel really good."
The child will join big brother Ty, Jason's 7-year-old son from his previous marriage. "He's been so excited to be a big brother," he says before additionally revealing that he and Molly broke the news to the kid via a family game of hang man.
"The answer was 'Tyler is going to be a big brother'," he says. "He's been asking me for years. He's always wanted to be a big brother. So we played the game and he looked at Molly and I and said 'Really?' Molly made him a t-shirt that says 'Big Brother' on it and he's really proud. He wore it to school."
Jason initially chose Melissa Rycroft at the end of the "Bachelor" season 13, but he broke up with her and dated runner-up Molly. Their relationship was criticized as a rating ploy, but he denied it. "I swear on my son's life, I would never be part of something like that," he insisted. "The reason I changed my mind is that it was in my heart."
The third-place finisher on the show back then was Jillian Harris, who later appeared on "The Bachelorette" season 5. Soon after hearing about the Mesnicks having a baby, she sent a congratulatory message, "I am SO excited for your new addition! I just KNOW that nursery is going to be UHHMAZiNG!"
"Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" host Chris Harrison was also equally thrilled, "All my love & congrats on the blessing! Christopher Rose is a beautiful name." To all the well wishes, Molly replied, "I step away for 5 minutes & come back to a ton of love. Thank you! We couldn't be more excited about the pint size peanut on the way :)."
