The 'Blade Runner' actor will play Macklyn, who has deep ties to Sookie and Jason, in the upcoming sixth season.

A veteran actor has been added to the cast line-up of "True Blood" season 6. Golden Globe winner Rutger Hauer is tapped to take a regular role on the HBO drama series, playing Macklyn who is described by TVLine as "a mysterious and sinister figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason."

Hauer is best known for his villainous roles such as Roy Batty in Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner" and John Ryder in 1986 horror film "The Hitcher". He won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor through his portrayal of Lieutenant Aleksandr Pechersky in 1987 TV movie "Escape from Sobibor". His other credits include "Sin City", "Batman Begins", "The Rite" and the upcoming "Dracula 3D".

"True Blood" is expected to return with its new season in June 2013. Creator Alan Ball stepped down from his role as showrunner at the end of the fifth season, but will still be involved with the show in a supervisory capacity. Mark Hudis takes the reign for the upcoming chapter.

In the last season finale, Bill transformed into a primal and bloody version of himself after drinking the rest of Lilith's vial. Stephen Moyer believed that his character would be a bigger villain in the sixth season as saying, "I think it would be safe to assume that what we thought was Bill is no longer Bill."
