David Letterman, Dustin Hoffman and Led Zeppelin to Get JFK Center Honors

The John F. Kennedy Center honorees will accept their medals from President Barack Obama and have a dinner with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Seven prominent figures in arts that include TV host, actor and musician alike will get nods from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. They are David Letterman, Dustin Hoffman and the suviving members of Led Zeppelin. Blues legend Buddy Guy and ballerina Natalia Makarova also join the 2012 list.

"This is something wonderful for my family, my co-workers and myself. I believe recognition at this prestigious level confirms my belief that there has been a mix-up. I am still grateful to be included," Letterman said. John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant stated, "We owe a large debt to the vitality and variety of the music of the American people."

The honorees will receive the medallions from President Barack Obama. They will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1 at a gala dinner hosted by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. On the following day, they will be saluted in tribute performances presented at the Kennedy Center Opera House. Mr. President and First Lady Michelle will also be in attendance.

The event will be aired by CBS on December 26 at 9:00 P.M. (ET/PT).
