Penn Badgley Shows Off Singing Talent in First Footage of Jeff Buckley Biopic
Movie

The unofficial trailer of 'Greetings from Tim Buckley' shows Penn as the late charismatic musician who tries to forgive his father as he pursues music career.

AceShowbiz - First footage of "Greetings from Tim Buckley" has landed online. The unofficial sneak peek focuses on Penn Badgley as late guitarist Jeff Buckley who never really knows his father, but is always compared to him as a musician. The video also shows Penn's singing talent as he strums his guitar for a live performance at a church.

The biopic itself follows the story of the days leading up to Jeff's eminent 1991 performance at his father (Tim)'s tribute concert in St. Ann's Church. Through a romance with a young woman working at the concert, he learns to embrace all of his feelings toward the father who abandoned him - longing, anger, forgiveness, and love.

Culminating in a cathartic performance of his father's most famous songs, Jeff's debut gig stuns the audience and launches his career as one of the greatest young musicians of his time. Jeff himself died at the age of 30 in a mysterious drowning accident in Wolf River Harbor.

"Greetings from Tim Buckley" is directed and co-written by Daniel Algrant. It is also supported by Imogen Poots, Ben Rosenfield, Kate Nash, Norbert Leo Butz, Frank Wood, Frank Bello, William Sadler, Jessica Stone, Janine Nichols and Bill Sadler.

In addition to this movie, another Jeff Buckley biopic is in the works with director Jake Scott. The rival untitled Jeff Buckley project has Reeve Carney tackling the part of the charismatic musician after he beat Robert Pattinson for the coveted role back in August 2011.
