Ricky Gervais on 'The Office' Cancellation: 'All Good Things Come to an End'
The creator of the British 'The Office' says he 'couldn't be prouder of the success of the U.S. version' of the sitcom, and considers about making a remake of 'Extras'.

Ricky Gervais has reacted to the news of "The Office" impending end. The British comedian, who created the original and U.K. version of the mockumentary, says in a statement to Speakeasy, "I couldn't be prouder of the success of the US version of 'The Office', but all good things come to an end."

He adds, "Luckily, with syndication, it's the gift that keeps on giving." The 51-year-old also teases people with the possibility of doing a remake of his other critically-acclaimed show "Extras" as saying, "Maybe I'll do a remake of 'Extras' next."

It was officially announced on August 21 that American "The Office" would end its run after nine seasons. "This will be the last season of The Office. And we're planning a very big exciting last season.... The end should be pretty cool," said original showrunner (season 1-5) Greg Daniels, who retakes the creative reign for the final chapter.

Sharing his vision for the upcoming installment, he revealed, "There are a lot of things that I've personally been wanting to do since season two," adding that "all questions will be answered this year. We're going to see who's behind the documentary." Moreover, a lot of familiar faces would be coming back for the last season.
