Just a few days after Universal Pictures announced the release date for "Rush", the studio has now revealed first official stills from the F1 movie. One of the images highlights lead actor Chris Hemsworth in his red racing suit as he gets surrounded by some pretty girls. Hemsworth's on-screen rival, Daniel Bruhl, is pictured keeping his eyes on the long-haired actor from behind.
Another photo shows Hemsworth and Bruhl sitting in each of their cars, getting ready to kick off the race. There is additionally an image that sees a car reaching the finish line of the race. However, it is unclear whether the car belongs to Hemsworth or Bruhl.
Hemsworth stars as charismatic Englishman James Hunt, while Bruhl tackles the part of disciplined Austrian perfectionist Nikki Lauda in "Rush". Hunt and Lauda's clashes on the Grand Prix racetrack epitomized the contrast between these two characters, a distinction reflected in their private lives.
Set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, "Rush" portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed. Taking us into their personal lives on and off the track, the film follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error. If you make one mistake, you die.
To arrive in the U.S. cinemas on September 20, 2013, the movie is directed by two-time Oscar winner Ron Howard with Peter Morgan penning the script. It also stars Olivia Wilde, Natalie Dormer and Alexandra Maria Lara.
