The provocative new drama starring the 'Tudors' alum as the iconic vampire introduces Count Dracula as he arrives in London to take revenge on the people who ruined his life in the past.

NBC will resurrect Count Dracula from his grave. The network announced on Tuesday, July 24 that it has ordered 10 episodes of new drama "Dracula", which has "The Tudors" vet Jonathan Rhys-Meyers tackling the titular role, without going through the pilot stage.

"In the world of 'Twilight', we thought we would go back to the original," said Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt, who described it as "a cool new version of Dracula." He added, "This will bring a Tudors sensibility to Dracula. It will be faithful to the period but look to the future."

Having been dubbed " 'Dangerous Liaisons' meets 'The Tudors' ", "Dracula" follows the iconic vampire as he arrives in London and poses as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society.

His real goal, however, is to get revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier. His plan is potentially ruined when he falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

The show is based on a script by Cole Haddon, who will also serve as executive producer alongside Colin Callender, Tony Krantz, Gareth Neame, Anne Mensah and Reece Pearson. Additional casting will be announced later.
