The CW vampire-themed series takes home not less than five kudos, with the ABC Family teen drama show and 'Glee' also bagging multiple gongs from the annual award show.
"The Vampire Diaries" and "Pretty Little Liars" had another reason to claim themselves favorite TV programs among teenagers. At the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, both shows swept almost all prizes in the fields they were nominated for.
"Vampire Diaries" grabbed the Choice Fantasy/Sci-Fi TV Show, beating out "Fringe", "Once Upon a Time", "Supernatural" and "The Vampire Diaries". Its stars Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Michael Trevino and Candice Accola also bagged one kudo each.
"Pretty Little Liars" won over other drama series such as the long-running "Gossip Girl and newbie "Revenge". Lucy Hale and Ian Harding, who play a couple on the ABC Family series, snatched Choice TV Drama Actor and Actress respectively. Meanwhile, Hale's co-star Troian Bellisario was named Choice TV Summer Female Star.
Also winning big that night was "Glee". Though it failed to get nominations at the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards, the musical series was hailed Choice TV Comedy at the teen-oriented prize-giving event. Chris Colfer and Lea Michele additionally won the prizes for Comedy Actor and Actress respectively.
Other winners included Teen Wolf" hottie Tyler Posey, Hannah Simone of "New Girl", and "DJ Pauly D" who appears on MTV's "Jersey Shore" and "The Pauly D Project".
The 14th Annual Teen Choice Awards was held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles with Demi Lovato and Kevin McHale serving as the hosts. The show also presented prizes for teens' choices in movie, music, sport, fashion, comedy and the web.
