Famed filmmaker Steven Spielberg reportedly wants Australian action hero Chris Hemsworth to act in his film adaptation of "Robopocalypse", according to Deadline. An official offer has not been made, but the film is already set for an April 25, 2014 release.

The movie is based on a novel written Daniel H. Wilson. The script for the film version was penned by Drew Goddard who previously worked on "Cloverfield" and "The Cabin in the Woods". Spielberg managed to get the rights for a film adaptation so quickly that Goddard began working on the script even before the novel was finished.

The novel is a technological thriller that is set in the future. It is about an artificial intelligence known as Archos who goes online and takes over a network of machines that humans use. He starts a rebellion and the human race must find a way to survive the Robot War.

Chris Hemsworth is a breakthrough star in the realm of action movies. He shot to fame when he played the Norse god in 2011's "Thor", a film about the Marvel superhero. He reprised his role in the 2012 blockbuster hit "The Avengers" where he starred alongside Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. He also played the eponymous Huntsman in "Snow White and the Huntsman". His next film, to be released on November 21, is "Red Dawn" which was shot way back in 2009 before he got his big break.
