Jimmy Kimmel Tapped as Last Minute Replacement to Announce Emmy Nominations

Jimmy Kimmel

The 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' host will join Kerry Washington in unveiling the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations after Nick Offerman bows out due to weather-related travel delays.

Jimmy Kimmel has signed up as an announcer for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, just hours before the ceremony is set to take place on Thursday, July 19 at 8:40 A.M. ET in Los Angeles. He replaces "Parks and Recreation" star Nick Offerman, who "regretfully" won't be able to make it in time for the show because of bad weather travel delays on the East Coast.

Kimmel will join "Scandal" lead actress Kerry Washington in announcing the nods. The comedian, who is slated to host the prize-giving event on September 23, has been previously scheduled to preside over the nominations announcement live at 7 P.M. ET.

Offerman once contemplated how he would react if he found out he got an Emmy nomination while hosting the show. "I guess the first impulse would be to announce it while belching. Or maybe Kerry Washington could announce it while I vociferously pass gas," he jokingly said. "That would seem the most appropriate."
