David Letterman shocked his audience and guest when he spoiled the ending of "The Dark Knight Rises". Whether what he said was the actual ending or not remains a mystery but it did not stop the veteran host to receive criticisms on the blogsphere.
Warning: Spoiler Ahead Letterman, who was having Anne Hathaway on his couch, said casually that Batman dies in the end of the film. This prompted Hathaway, who portrays Catwoman in the film, to utter, "Daaaave!" The shocked actress then said, "I just want you to know the wrath that you have just invited onto yourself. [director] Chris [Nolan], I had no part in it, I'm sorry."
"Not that I wasn't already anticipating the TDKR ending, but I'm still not happy with David Letterman," FanboySnell tweeted. Mad Hatter 1 wrote, "Dave has 'OLD TIMERS' disease. It happens to everyone."
Nolan has indeed said that this would be his last Batman film. Giving his take on this, star Christian Bale told Toronto Sun, "It's all down to Chris. But my understanding is that he's pretty clear. In my conversations with him, this is it, this is how it was meant to be. But there's always the temptation: How far can you push it? Then there's: No, if it's good, leave it, walk away at that moment. Don't wait until you start making mistakes."
