Luke Bryan Apologizes for Cheating During National Anthem

Performing at the July 10 MLB All-Star Game, the country crooner admitted to writing down some of the lyrics on his hand in order not to mess up.

Luke Bryan did not exactly impress when he sang the national anthem at recent MLB All-Star Game because he cheated. The country singer has apologized to fans for writing down a few words on his hand so that he would not messed up like a lot of singers have.

"I had a few keys words written down to insure myself that I wouldn't mess up. I just wanted to do my best. I promise it was from the heart," he tweeted. "If I offended anyone with my approach I sincerely apologize. Anytime I sing the anthem it is an honor and my heart beats out of my chest."

Bryan kept glancing at his hand when he performed, prompting question whether he was checking the time on his watch. "I did check my watch because I knew the stealth bomber would fly over 2 minutes in and I knew a started a little late," Bryan defended himself, adding "Being a part of the all star game was amazing and I look forward to the next time I can perform the anthem. Thanks y'all. Love ya"

Also performing at the July 10 game were Phillip Phillips and Kellie Pickler. The former sang his "American Idol" coronation song "Home" on the field before the game while the latter sang "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch.
