Shortly after Adam Lambert was rumored to be considered as the next "American Idol" judge, more famous artists are now reported to be eyed for the duty as well. Words are, "Idol" bosses are also considering to hire the likes of Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj.
The report is first broken by E! News, which also mentions Black Eyed Peas members, will.i.am and Stacy Ferguson a.k.a Fergie, as the possible candidates for the new "Idol" judges. Still, an insider stresses that nothing has been set in stone yet.
"No one has signed any contracts yet and producers are currently putting out feelers and setting up meetings to see who they can get," reveals the insider. "We won't know if Randy [Jackson] and Steven [Tyler] are returning until they see who else is on board." Fox's representative has yet to release a statement regarding the rumor.
While it is still unclear if Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler will return to the twelfth season, it has been reported that "Idol" execs want Jennifer Lopez back to the judging seat though the Latin star isn't planning to return. According to E!, it is likely that there will be more than one new judges on the next installment of the singing competition show.
"American Idol" season 12 is already holding its auditions, but with no judges in attendance. The audition is currently taking place in Chicago with three more cities to go. Previously, Adam Lambert was mentioned as a potential new judge for the next season. Addressing the report, Lambert enthused that he'd love to take the job.
"If they were to approach me and if they were to say we want you to be a judge on the show, I would love that," the runner-up of the show's eighth season told Examiner. "I would jump at the chance. I think it would be fun."
