The rapper, who is also known as Andre Benjamin, will sing 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', Muddy Waters' 'Mannish Boy', Elmore James' 'Bleeding Heart' and more for 'All Is by My Side.'

AceShowbiz - Tackling the lead role in "All Is by My Side", Andre Benjamin aka Andre 3000 will not only show his acting skill but also his vocal chops. The film's producers have said that the rapper/actor will be covering songs by The Beatles, Muddy Waters, Chip Taylor, Elmore James and more in the Jimi Hendrix biopic.

The OutKast member will be seen singing "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Wild Thing", "Hound Dog", "Mannish Boy", "Bleeding Heart", "Future Trip" and "Driving South". They are the songs that Hendrix covered in his performances in between 1966 and 1967.

Despite the fact that the movie centers on Hendrix, it will not feature any original songs written by the legendary guitarist. Experience Hendrix LLC, which oversees the Hendrix estate, said back in May that it "has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation."

Meanwhile, producer Sean McKittrick insisted that getting the rights to Hendrix's song wasn't necessary because the movie will focus on Hendrix's early career, before the release of his debut U.S. album "Are You Experienced". "This is the story of Jimi being discovered as a backup musician and how he went to London and became Jimi Hendrix," the producer explained.

Responding to McKittrick's statement, a representative for the Hendrix estate commented, "They want to make a Jimi Hendrix movie without Jimi Hendrix music... It would be like making a movie about Lincoln without being able to use the Gettysburg Address."

Directed by John Ridley, "All Is by My Side" started the production last May in Dublin, Ireland with Hayley Atwell and Imogen Poots supporting the cast ensemble. The principal photography is expected to wrap up this week and the producers plan to take the film to the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
